Gold prospecting basically means searching for new gold deposits. The method which is used in gold prospecting depends on the type of deposit as well as the resources which the prospector has. Gold prospecting is generally a commercial activity, although in some countries gold prospecting has become a popular outdoor recreation. If any prospector plans to pan for gold, he would definitely like to be rewarded by glitter of gold in the bottom of the pan. Although the idea of prospecting is thrilling and rewarding, it does needs some basic facts to consider before going out on this venture. It is true that prospectors do hope for financial gains but they must be careful in planning the whole expedition.

Prospecting for gold is a process that needs alertness of the prospector. Although there are many prospectors who indulge themselves in this activity but only a few of them gain success.

From the past several centuries, US have been thoroughly searched by the prospectors. The Carlin mine near Carlin, Nevada, produced gold from a large low-grade deposit that was opened in 1965 after intensive scientific and technical work had been completed.

Gold prospecting is generally done with the set instruments for this work. Some time ago, a gold pan was used to wash free gold particles from the surface of the earth. The gold pan is in use since centuries and is still common among the leading prospectors. However the new gold prospectors are majorly interested in using and applying the latest technologies to work. Gold prospecting is a technique which needs to be performed with a combination of experience and knowledge of the place.
